Meet Zoraida.

Author. Keynote Speaker, Student Researcher. Founder of T.H.R.I.V.E.

I write about feelings that can be hard to name. I study questions about the brain and emotion. And when I see a need, I try to bring people together to meet it.

I’m Zoraida. Welcome to my world of words, discovery, and action.

01 / EXPLORE MY WORK

Curiosity becomes action.

Writing, science, and service each give me a different way to understand people and help them feel connected.

T.H.R.I.V.E. — TOOLS FOR A HEALTHY MIND

Tools for a Healthy Mind

I founded T.H.R.I.V.E. to help teens learn practical ways to handle stress, pressure, loneliness, and difficult emotions before they become overwhelming.

02 / BOOKS — WORDS THAT STAY WITH YOU

Words that stay with you.

Whispers of Innocence is my collection of poems about love, grief, anxiety, and growing up. UNWRITTEN: The Skills Every Teen Needs helps teens practice skills they can carry into everyday life.

03 / BEDS FOR JAMAICA — CARE IN ACTION

Care in action.

After Hurricane Melissa, I learned that families in Jamaica were sleeping on bare floors. With donors, students, and partners, I helped provide mattresses and handwritten letters of hope.

04 / SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH — QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MIND

Questions about the mind.

My research interests include EEG-based emotion recognition, neurofeedback, mental health stigma, and early childhood development. Each project helps me understand more about people and the ways we might support them.

05 / SPEAKING & MEDIA

A voice for connection.

I speak about teen well-being, resilience, and youth leadership. I also speak alongside my mother, Petergay de Souza. Together, we bring a mother’s and daughter’s perspectives to conversations about courage and connection.

We co-created The N.O.D.™: Name it. Own it. Do it anyway. It’s a way to name what you’re afraid of, take ownership of your next choice, and move forward even when you don’t feel ready.

Inspiring teen audiences with stories of resilience and the power of connection.

What begins with a question can grow into change.

THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE

Thank you for being here. I hope something you read inspires you to ask a question, start a conversation, or help someone feel they belong.
